MOONRISE MUSING 29: Dreaming With Herbs This Pisces Season - Some Herbal Recommendations To Assist You In Navigating The Dreamscape

As many of you know, I am qualified in Western Herbal Medicine, but I utilise my knowledge concerning the medicine of herbs to go deeper into the fullness of their energetics. As such, my interest is in how the medicinal meets the esoteric, and how there is actually no real separation between the two....only the illusion of such.
As you probably know by now, Pisces is the sign of the zodiac which connects us most proficiently to dreams. Whether we are aware of it or not, dreaming is where all creation begins. To dream is to be as "God" or Source.
The final sign on the zodiac wheel invites us to connect to our faith and hope in an effort to dream higher love timelines, while doing away with all which robs us from the ability of turning those dreams into tangible realities.
In order to dream, we must be rooted in the frequency of love. We must feel so safe and emotionally regulated that we can allow for ourselves to travel to otherwise forbidden places where our fantasies, desires, and deepest fears can be explored. This takes us out into the farthest edges of our own consciousnesses, beckoning us to dive deeper still, and taste the expansiveness of our own soul's emotional limitlessness.
Dream herbs often share this quality of relaxing our nervous systems, so that we are able to receive these cosmic visions and downloads. Dreaming is deeply feminine in nature because it requires a deep atmosphere of safety and relaxation to foster true receptivity. To dream is to be able to receive directly from your own soul, guiding spirits, the planets and constellations, and Source itself.
As such, many dream herbs are actually herbs of Venus - connecting us to love and wealth by way of giving us the capacity to expand and receive more.
Here are a few herbs I am working with this season personally, or I have worked with in the past for helping me to be open to receive in dreamtime. Please always do your own due diligence before trying herbs as some will interact with other pharmaceuticals, or are not suited for people undergoing certain health ailments.

LAVENDER
I'm going to start with one of the most obvious. I love working with Lavender for healing dream blocks and also for encouraging the relaxed mode necessary to surrender to sleep. My favourite way to utilise this herb is through water preparation: Lavender infused baths and yoni steams being my favourite.
Utilising Lavender essential oils can add more strength to baths and footwashes, but steer clear of using any essential oils in yoni steams as they are too potent and can be irritating. Steeping Lavender flowers in hot water and pouring it into a bowl that you place beneath your bed can also facilitate dream work.
Lavender can also be activated for protection in both dream and psychic work. For this, you can even call on the spirit of the plant and ask for its assistance. The more you build relationships with plants through physical interactions, the easier it is to connect with them spiritually without needing the physical matter of the plant.

MUGWORT
Mugwort is very protective, and has a deeply maternal vibe to its energy. It is a plant that is very powerful for moving through stagnancies and blocks. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mugwort is used in a practice called moxibustion. This is where acupuncture needles are utilised with burning mugwort to energise chi in especially stagnant areas.
A lot of our inability to connect with and remember our dreams has to do with emotional blocks, or beings purposely seeking to blind and bind us out of seeing what is occuring in our creation portals. Dreaming occurs through the emotional planes, and our energy bodies which connect us to this.
Mugwort is wonderful for burning as an incense, and for smoking too. Because dreaming is connected to our emotional fields, working with herbs in water is always going to be more powerful than any other preparation. However, utilising fire preparations in addition to water ones can add more potency to the power of the working.

CATNIP
One of my favourite herbs to work with is Catnip. I have smoked it, bathed in it, drank it, and done yoni steams and enemas with it too. I find it to be perfect for taking the edge off, and when I smoke it, it makes me a little giddy and helps me tap deeper into my Leonine playfulness. My children always know when I've been hitting the catnip...lol.
It is a herb that belongs to the mint family, and is used quite often in love and money work. My most intensive dreaming experiences with Catnip have happened after doing enemas with the herb. When I pair it with other plants for the removal of emotional stagnancy, I get the best results.
One of my favourite sleepy time tea blends is Catnip with Chamomile, Lemon Balm, and some Caraway Seeds for beautiful flavour. Energetically together, this blends helps facilitate rest, dreaming, emotional clearing, and revelation of the root and spiritual causes for certain maladies.

BLUE LOTUS
No dream herb list would be complete without Blue Lotus. It is a water herb that facilitates astral travel, dream journeying, and recall. Most people like to smoke Blue Lotus to assist with their psychic travels, and I can recommed mixing it with some Mugwort and Lavender to create your own dream time smoking blend.
However, I would once again say that utilising the herb in a water preparation adds more potency for connecting in the dream space. It is a mild tasting herb that can be added to other aromatic preparations....even as an addition to the sleepy time tea blend I recommended above.
It is also a herb that can be used to make a dream sachet - either alone, or in the company of other dream herbs. You can also use it in candle magick to enhance the work already being done in the dream space. Adding this layer to your dreaming rituals can help to bring in more illumination where it is needed. Simply create a ring of your chosen dream herb around a white or blue candle, and set your personal intention for your dream journey.

PINK ROSE
While Pink Rose is not a traditional dream herb, it is a very powerful love flower. Red Rose incites passion and lust, while Pink Rose helps us to heal our barriers to receiving love. It is an energy which encourages deep healing of the emotional body for the facilitation of self-acceptance and forgiveness. As such, it is great for shifting grief and disappointment, and healing our hearts from the blocks that have been built in response to trauma and loss.
Most rose water prepartions are made with Pink Rose as it tends to hold that fragrance we all associate with the flower. As such, even adding Rose Water into your nightly routine can be beneficial. It is a natural toner and skin calmer - combatting the effects of stress and nervous systen dysregulation on our skin.
You can also spray your pillows with Rose water, or wear it as a light bedtime perfume. Rose Absolute essential oil is more fragrant and perfumed. A touch on your pulse points, behind your ears, the nape of your neck, the soles of your feet, and a drop or two in the belly button can also help in the work you need to open yourself wider to receiving love.

JASMINE
Jasmine is not a traditional dreamtime herb, but I'm giving it an honourable mention here because it is very efficacious for past life and akashic work. It is also a plant that has the propensity for connecting us deeply to our own sensuality and deepest unconscious desires.
I adore using Jasmine Absolute essential oil with other oils to create a base tone for perfumes. The oil is deeply heady and aromatic, and some don't care for its strong fragrance. However, the dry flowers tend to not hold as much smell.
Jasmine is part of the nightshade family, which mean it blooms and opens under the light of the Moon, as opposed to most flowers which bloom under the Sun. You can also drink Jasmine in tea, and I have smoked it and used it for scrying. As it is a plant with deep Mediterranean roots, it can also connect you deeper to those timelines where you know you spent lifetimes in those specific geographical regions.
